Mr BRUCE (Flinders) (Prime Minister and Minister for External Affairs) . - In moving -

That the House do now adjourn,

I desire to inform the House that Mr. J. A. M. Elder has accepted the position of Australia's representative in the United States in the place of Mr. Donald Mackinnon, whose term expires on the 31st of this month.. Mr. Elder, as I think most honorable members know, has occupied a very prominent position in the commercial world of Melbourne. He has been the representative of the Chambers of Commerce upon the Commonwealth Board of Trade. He has also recently been very actively engaged on .the Empire Exhibition Commission, and has been acting chairman of the Commission since Senator Wilson has been abroad. Mr. Elder will leave for America at the end of August, or early in September, and Mr. Donald Mackinnon will continue to act until he arrives in America. The term of the appointment is two years.
