Mr STORY (for Mr. Austin Chapman) asked the Minister for Home and Territories, upon notice -

1.   Will he inform the House what steps have been taken in regard to using the internment camp erected at Canberra?

2.   Will the buildings erected there be made available for persons engaged in employment in the Territory?

Mr POYNTON - The buildings and equipment are the property of the Imperial Government, the management of which is in the hands of trustees on its behalf. Negotiations are taking place with a view to the acquisition by the Commonwealth of so much of the property as can be profitably utilized for the construction of the Capital or otherwise.
