Mr LONSDALE (New England) . - I cannot see how the tinned-fish industry is to be benefited by the payment of the proposed bountv. The annual production per head of those employed in some of these industries is very small. The product of the fishing industry in Italy is valued at £7,000,000, but 1,000,000 persons are engaged in it. It is, therefore, worth about £7 per head. Under the circumstances, I claim that the proposed' bounty to such an industry will be of no assistance whatever, and, consequently, I shall vote against the item.
