Mr DEAKIN (BALLAARAT, VICTORIA) (Minister for External Affairs) - I am sure that the people of the Commonwealth cordially reciprocate the sympathy shown by President Roosevelt in his statement that, next to his own nation, he is interested in the progress, success, and safety of this Continent. Next to our own nation, we place our kindred in America. I agree with him, too, that we should populate the far north, and, while preferring those of our own nation for that purpose, am willing to look elsewhere if they are unable to accomplish the task.
