2 DEATH OF Private Matthew Lambert
Ms Gillard (Prime Minister) referred to the death of Private Matthew Lambert, and moved—That the House record its deep regret at the death on the morning of 22 August 2011 of Private Matthew Lambert during combat operations in Afghanistan, place on record its appreciation of his service to his country and tender its profound sympathy to his family in their bereavement.
Mr Abbott (Leader of the Opposition) seconded the motion, and Mr S. F. Smith (Minister for Defence) and Mr Robert addressed the House in support thereof.
All Members present having risen, in silence—
Debate adjourned (Mr Albanese—Leader of the House), and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for the next sitting.
Mr Albanese, by leave, moved—That the order of the day in relation to the death of Private Matthew Lambert be referred to the Main Committee for debate.
