ROUTINE OF BUSINESS—VARIATIONMotion determined as not formal: The Parliamentary Secretary for School Education and Workplace Relations (Senator Collins) requested that government business notice of motion no. 1 standing in her name for today, relating to the routine of business for 10 May 2012, be taken as formal. An objection was raised and the motion was not proceeded with as a formal motion. Suspension of standing orders: Senator Collins, at the request of the Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Evans) and pursuant to contingent notice, moved—That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent Senator Evans moving a motion relating to the consideration of a matter, namely a motion to give precedence to government business notice of motion no. 1. Senator Collins moved—That, on Thursday, 10 May 2012: (a) the routine of business from not later than 12.30 pm to 1.50 pm shall be consideration of the government business order of the day relating to the Family Assistance and Other Legislation Amendment (Schoolkids Bonus Budget Measures) Bill 2012; (b) the bill listed in paragraph (a) be considered under a limitation of time, and that the time allotted for all remaining stages commence at 12.30 pm until 1.50 pm; and (c) paragraph (b) of this order shall operate as a limitation of debate under standing order 142.
