SOCIAL SECURITY AMENDMENT (DISPOSAL OF ASSETS) BILL 1999
AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FORESTRY LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL
(NO. 2) 1999

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

 Message no. 261, dated 23 August 1999—A Bill for an Act to amend the Social Security Act 1991 in relation to the effect on social security benefits of the disposal of assets, and for related purposes.

 Message no. 262, dated 24 August 1999—A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to agriculture, fisheries and forestry, and for related purposes.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (Senator Troeth) moved—That these bills may proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Troeth moved—That these bills be now read a second time.

On the motion of Senator Quirke the debate was adjourned till the next day of sitting.
