Notices of Motion: The Attorney-General (Senator Gareth Evans) gave Notices of Motion, as follows- No. 1-To move on the next day of sitting-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to alter the Constitution so as to ensure that Senate elections and House of Representatives elections are held at the same time.

No. 2-To move on the next day of sitting-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to alter the Constitution to extend the duration of the House of Representatives and the terms of service of senators.

Notice of Motion Withdrawn: Senator Coates, in accordance with notice of intention given on 15 September 1983, withdrew Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 1, standing in his name, relating to the disallowance of the Customs (Cinematograph Films) Regulations (Amendment), as contained in Statutory Rules 1983 No. 38 and made under the Customs Act 1901.
