Senator WONG (South AustraliaMinister for Finance and Deregulation) (11:19): On the first issue I refer to my previous answers. On the broader issue about electricity prices I would make the point that without a price on carbon we will continue to see a stalling of investment in our energy generation sector, in particular. This lack of investment feeds through to electricity prices, but in that world there is no assistance available to households.

The next point I would also make is that the most significant risk to electricity prices is the position of the opposition on this. It is that uncertainty and that opposition that is more risky for electricity prices. On the policy issues that have been raised, I have extensively answered them in previous responses.
