Senator XENOPHON (South Australia) (11:47): If I may assist the minister, the legitimate concerns I have about these amendments are about whether they will actually make a difference if what the bill is proposing to do is simply to restate the position of the courts in existing cases. What difference will it make? That is essentially my question, and I have some follow-up questions depending on the minister's answer. I think it is quite material to how effective these changes will be, and what the government believes these changes will mean to the definition of unconscionable conduct and the practical application of the law.
