Senator McGRATH (QueenslandAssistant Minister to the Prime Minister) (15:57): I seek leave to make a short statement.

The PRESIDENT: Leave is granted for one minute.

Senator McGRATH: The June flooding caused extensive damage to communities in Tasmania. The Australian government has provided a range of assistance to help support affected communities during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those lost, as they grapple not only with the impacts of the flooding but the loss of their loved ones. Events such as this are a tragic reminder of the unforgiving nature of natural disasters, and it will be felt for years to come. On behalf of the government, I would like to thank the hardworking volunteers and other emergency services for their tireless efforts.

Question agreed to.
