Senator Cormann asked the Minister representing the Minister for Education, upon notice, on 26 March 2010:

By state and territory, what was the total of funds expended by the Education Investment Fund for the period 24 November 2007 to 1 March 2010?


Senator Carr (Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research) —

For the period 24 November 2007 to 1 March 2010, grant payments totalling $913.5 million have been made under the Education Investment Fund. Successful applicants received grant payments as follows: in New South Wales - $298.3 million, in Victoria - $212.6 million, in Queensland - $168.2 million, in South Australia - $46.6 million, in Western Australia - $64.9 million, in Tasmania - $23.0 million, in the Northern Territory - $19.0 million and in the Australian Capital Territory - $72.6 million. In addition, one successful applicant received grant payments totalling $8.3 million for its campuses in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
