Senator MASON (4:40 PM) —I want to specifically address the minister’s concern. That was interesting coming from Senator Carr—fiscal rectitude coming from a party of former economic conservatives. They are not any more, I understand, but they certainly were formerly. As the minister is well aware, today we will be debating in this chamber the savings measure that the opposition has designed, and that is to reduce the start-up allowance from $2,254 to $1,000 per year. That is the measure we will be introducing to pay for this measure, and the minister is very well aware of that.
