Senator COONAN (1:24 PM) —The opposition will not be supporting these amendments. We are wary of any unintended consequences of the amendments. We do appreciate some of the good intentions in relation to this legislation, but there are some questions on the practical application—that is, how it would work. Indeed, as I understand it, some of these provisions were excised from the government’s exposure draft. In any event, rather than take up the chamber’s time, I indicate that the coalition will not be supporting the amendments.
