Senator FIELDING (Leader of the Family First Party) (6:34 PM) —This is an interesting discussion, isn’t it? There has been a fair bit of debate about Independents. I belong to Family First. I am not an Independent; I actually belong to a party. I think the government needs to do a bit more work on this. There is no way that a family that owns a horse as a pet should be hit. You can say that it can be covered in the regulations and there should be a yes/no answer to that. We should have the regulations. We had this debate about the PBS. Frankly, you need to come to the chamber and show us what you are thinking. You have heard in the Senate inquiry there is genuine concern about the number of horses that someone owns. Mums and dads should not be hit with this. I am happy for you to adjourn the debate and come back next week when you have done a bit more work on this. There is no way that mums and dads should be hit with this. You need to address the issue.
