Senator SIEWERT (12:30 PM) —The Greens will support this amendment. If we take at face value what the government said this morning in answer to our questions about not interfering with people’s rights, they will accept this amendment because it is putting in the legislation what they have said. This amendment clarifies their intention of not taking away people’s rights. The Greens do not support this legislation, but, if it is going to go ahead, we would like to see this amendment in the legislation to reassure Indigenous communities about their rights.
