Senator CROSSIN (11:49 AM) —I have a number of questions that I want to ask about the special purpose leases, particularly as they relate to Tangentyere Council. In clause 44, this legislation seeks to give the Commonwealth minister the power to forfeit special purpose leases and to resume them. If the government forfeited leases in the Alice Springs town camps, what would be the basis for that? Would it be because of a failure to comply with a covenant of the lease or would it be that rent has remained unpaid for at least a year without the minister’s consent?
