Senator MILNE (11:19 AM) —I support these amendments. I certainly do not support any reduction in the time for public consultation, especially because of the issue I raised previously. The public should have as much time as is reasonable in order to make a judgement about these major development proposals. Trying to collapse the time just makes for poor decisions in the longer term. I note that the government calls it red tape and green tape. I presume green tape refers to the environmental impact. The economy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the environment, Minister, and it is time that that is reflected in the legislative framework. I certainly support these amendments.
