Senator ABETZ (Special Minister of State) (10:00 AM)
—Just before we move to the division, can I indicate to the Senate that Senator Wong has already mentioned that some awards or agreements provide an absolute right to refuse to work on public holidays. This legislation would not override that right. The more beneficial right in a workplace agreement or award would still have effect. That is my advice from the department.
Question agreed to.
