Senator Chris Evans asked the Minister for Family and Community Services, upon notice, on 4 May 2005:

For each of the financial years 2000-01 to 2004-05 to date, can the following information be provided for the department and/or its agencies:

(4)  

(a)   How many senior officers have been supplied with motor vehicles; and (b) what has been the cost to date. (5)   (a)   How many senior officers have been supplied with mobile phones; and (b) what has been the cost to date.

   (a)   What was the total cost of air charters used; and (b) on how many occasions was aircraft chartered, and in each case, what was the name of the charter company that provided the service and the respective costs.

Total cost to date: $2,455,700 (5)   (a)   FaCS currently has issued 236 senior officers with mobile phones.                 To determine the number of senior officers who were provided with mobile phones in the previous financial years would represent a significant diversion of FaCS resources, as mobile phones services have been provided to FaCS by a number of service providers over this period
