The DEPUTY PRESIDENT
—On behalf of the President, for the information of the Senate I present copies of the Memorandum of Understanding on the Execution of Search Warrants in the Premises of Members of Parliament between the Attorney-General, the Minister for Justice and Customs, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate, and the Australian Federal Police national guideline for execution of search warrants where parliamentary privilege may be involved.
The memorandum and guideline were negotiated over several years following consideration by the Senate, the privileges committee and the Federal Court of the immunity of documents associated with Senate and committee proceedings from seizure under search warrant.
