Senator ALLISON (5:34 PM) —Then can the minister explain what the advantage is in that principle being put into the free trade agreement—that is, the principle that recognises the rights of innovative drug manufacturers. Can you just explain the purpose, as you understand it. I presume that, if you have negotiated an agreement and the other party has come along with this provision that it wants put in, you, as a responsible party, at least understand the implications and motivations behind it. It has to have some reason to be there. What is that reason?
