Senator HILL (Minister for Defence) (9:03 PM) —The advice I am being given is that theoretically a government could take that issue to the dispute settlement procedures. But the point I am making to Senator Brown is that that is not going to occur in relation to Australia's environmental protection, which was clearly set up in Australian law prior to the introduction of this agreement, which clearly was put in place for no purpose other than proper environmental protection and which was in existence at the time at which the United States not only accepted our environmental laws but also, under this agreement, reinforced our obligation to enforce our environmental laws.
