Senator TROETH (Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry) (1:26 PM) —The Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Legislation Amendment (Name Change) Bill 2004 is very simple bill containing two basic and uncomplicated measures. It changes the name of the National Registration Authority to the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority and it protects the new name, the initials and the symbol of the new organisation from misuse. They reflect common terminology within the international community and I believe will help foster greater awareness of the new organisation and its objective of safe and responsible chemical use by all users and manufacturers. I commend the bill to the Senate.

Question agreed to.
