The DEPUTY PRESIDENT —The President has received letters from party leaders seeking variations to the membership of certain committees.

That senators be discharged from and appointed to committees as follows:

Appointed—Substitute member: Senator Fifield to replace Senator Chapman for the consideration of the 2004-05 Budget estimates from 31 May to 4 June 2004

Appointed—Substitute member: Senator Johnston to replace Senator Tierney for the committee's inquiry into the Office of the Chief Scientist

Environment, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts Legislation Committee--

Appointed—Substitute member: Senator Scullion to replace Senator Tchen for the consideration of the 2004-05 Budget estimates on 25 May 2004 from 7.30 pm
