Senator HARRADINE (9:39 AM) —by leave—I would like to make a couple of comments. First of all, I was not aware that the government had agreed to the opposition's proposal to draw stumps at 11.30 p.m. and come back tomorrow. We all have individual commitments outside of this place. It is all very well for other senators to get pairs, presumably to meet their obligations, but I am not in a situation to provide a pair in those circumstances where I need to evaluate the arguments for and against particular motions or amendments that come before the Senate. Quite frankly, I have certain commitments and I do not intend to do otherwise than meet those commitments.
