Senator VANSTONE (Minister for Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Reconciliation) (8:33 PM) —Mr Temporary Chairman, I want to put on record that there have been a couple of occasions where the shadow minister has been given the opportunity to say something more than `That's not our advice' to indicate that this has been given consideration. He has declined to do so, and I think that in doing so he has given us the answer. Either answer is going to be dreadful. If the answer is: `No, we just relied on advice,' it shows inadequate consideration; and if the answer is: `Yes, we gave it adequate consideration,' it shows that consideration was neither informed, nor intelligent, nor capable.

Question negatived.
