Senator GREIG (7:53 PM) —The Democrats oppose this amendment principally because we take a strong counterview to the principle that the government is trying to establish here. Specifically, we are of the view that the law ought not to have retrospective application in altering rights and liberties. I will not go into further detail on that, because I can speak further to that when I move the next Democrat amendment, which presents the counterposition.
