Senator HILL (Minister for the Environment and Heritage) (6:41 PM) —I might facilitate the debate by saying that I am prepared to accept the amendment. It is true that for some time the authority has been conducting a negotiation with the Queensland government in relation to dealing with the issue of sewage. It is an important issue and needs to be dealt with more effectively, but there have been some difficulties that are being worked through. I have one suggestion. It has been put to me that it would be more elegant to describe it as 8A after proposed subsection 38J(7) instead of 8A after proposed subsection 38L(3). If Senator Bartlett has no objection, he may seek to put it in those terms.
