Senator HILL (Leader of the Government in the Senate) (2:00 PM)
—by leave—I inform the Senate that Senator Jocelyn Newman, the Minister for Family and Community Services, the Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Status of Women, the Minister representing the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Minister Representing the Minister for Defence, will be absent from the chamber for the next two sitting weeks. Senator Newman is on recuperative leave. During Senator Newman's absence, Senator Herron will be the minister representing the Acting Minister for Family and Community Services, Senator Ellison will be the Minister representing the Minister for Veterans' Affairs and the Minister for Defence, and Senator Vanstone will answer questions on women's policy.
