Senator Faulkner asked the Minister representing the Prime Minister, upon notice, on 11 May 1999:

(1) What was the total expenditure on renovations, restorations and repairs on the buildings, grounds, furniture and fittings at: (a) Kirribilli House; and (b) the Lodge, during the period 1 March 1996 to 1 March 1999.

(2) If work has been committed to be undertaken at either residence during the above period, but not yet paid, what is the expected total expenditure on that work.

Senator Hill (Environment and Heritage) —The Prime Minister has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

(1) (a) $346,757.41

(b) $208,952.51

(2) Kirribilli House $116,506.00.
