Senator KEMP (Assistant Treasurer) (4:36 PM) —I have made very clear that local government will substantially benefit from the tax reform package. For the reasons I have stated, we believe that local governments will be able to claim their input tax credits, so in that way they will be able to claim back GST paid on their purchases. Local governments will benefit from the very substantial cuts in diesel excise on a range of products. Local governments will benefit from the removal of wholesale sales taxes and will benefit from the removal of a range of other taxes. So local government will benefit substantially from tax reform. On that there is no argument.
