Senator HARRIS (4:30 PM) —I recognise the tax cuts that are in the package will assist people on properties, but there is nothing in this package that will assist rural people who are living in the towns. My question again is: will the government give consideration to lifting the minimum tax threshold for those people who do work diligently in the country areas and work hard to maintain the services in their towns? This is one way that the government could assist those people in rural areas in a positive way—by giving them relief on the minimum tax threshold, thus assisting the entire area, including local government, to meet their commitments under your tax.
