The PRESIDENT —I have received letters from the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate seeking variations to the membership of committees.

Motion (by Senator Ian Campbell)—by leave—agreed to:

That senators be appointed to and discharged from committees as follows:

Employment, Workplace Relations, Small Business and Education Legislation Committee. Participating member Senator Gibbs.

Employment, Workplace Relations, Small Business and Education References Committee. Substitute member: Senator Mackay to substitute for Senator Crossin for the comrnittee's inquiry into the assessment of the factors that contribute to the disparity in employment levels between different regions and also between regions and capital cities, as well as the continuing high levels of regional unemployment. Participating member: Senator Gibbs.
