Senator ALSTON (Communications, Information Technology and the Arts) (12:42 PM) —It is premature to make judgments about what should be regarded as legitimate Internet content. But at this point in the technology cycle, I think we would all see clear distinctions between datacasting and online broadcasting or transmission, but the whole notion of convergence is another very good reason why the review process would help to pick that up. It may well mean that down the track there will be various amended definitions, but datacasting is not the thrust of this legislation.
