Senator Robert Ray asked the Special Minister of State, upon notice, on 8 March 1999:

(1) From 1 July 1998 to 29 February 1999, how many market research or polling organisations were engaged to undertake projects for the Australian Electoral Commission?

(2) In each instance:

(a) what was the purpose of the project;

(b) which firms were engaged; and

(c) at what cost.


Senator Ellison (Special Minister of State) —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

(1) Only one market research organisation was engaged.

(2) (a) Purpose was for advertising tracking and post election survey.

(b) The firm engaged was Eureka Strategic Research.

(c) The cost was $206,655.
