Senator TAMBLING (10:20 PM) —It is a pity Senator Faulkner has not taken the time to read the letter very carefully. In the third paragraph of the letter, the Prime Minister says:

I can also confirm that the Government will promote the facilitating measures concerning out of pocket costs and medical gaps previously discussed with Dr Wooldridge. These include:

And then three points:

. providing money for computer software development which is one of the limiting factors;

. changing the reinsurance pool to provide greater incentives for funds to offer no gap products; and

. asking Medibank Private to work on this area, as a matter of urgency.

I mentioned earlier in the debate this evening that the minister for health is pursuing those matters at length and has been for some time. The Prime Minister's letter confirms to Senator Harradine that those important objectives have a good standing. They are matters of government activity that very rightly were confirmed to Senator Harradine.
