Senator TAMBLING (10:12 PM) —Senator Brown raised the issue of the statistics based on South Australia. Obviously he has put them together based on anecdotal comment, whether in his office or elsewhere. But I appreciate his concern. I will seek that information for him. I was under the impression that what he was seeking was rather like comparing apples and pears, particularly with regard to the time scales covered. Looking at the prospective nature of what is intended in this legislation and the advantages of keeping people in a good and proper and balanced system, I thought they would be more the objectives and the purposes that we ought to be focusing on.

Both Senator Evans and Senator Brown have raised a number of commercial and economic issues in that area, whether relating to the sanctions or other issues. All I can say is that, from my experience in business, obviously there is a big difference between us: with their appreciation of the factors of commerce and economic priorities and business operations, I would say that they are way off the track.
