Senator MARGETTS (8:54 PM) —This is another example of where a figure is thrown into the debate and, if there are specific questions on that figure in this debate to the parliamentary secretary representing the minister, then there should be some means of backing up those figures. It might be just a debating point or it might have been something that was planned to put into the debate, but it is obvious that if the parliamentary secretary puts figures into the debate somebody is going to ask him about what makes up those figures.

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN (Senator Reynolds) —The question is that the amendment be agreed to. Those of that opinion say aye, against say no. I think the noes have it.

Senator Margetts —Sorry. I am unaware of how Senators Colston and Harradine are voting on this one. Therefore, I am going to need to put it to a division unless I am able to get some indication of that, because in the chamber I think we are dead even at the moment. No indication? Therefore, I say that the ayes have it.

The TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN —The ayes have it? Division required. Ring the bells.

Question put:

That the amendment (Senator Lees's ) be agreed to.
