Senator MARGETTS (8:25 PM) —Just briefly, I am basing my opinion on the evidence—not on a philosophical or ideological position but on the basis of the evidence that has been presented to us and to the people who were sitting on that committee on Friday. Nobody could justify the direction that the government is taking. The figures were not there, the models were not there, and even the health department people there had a lot of difficulty explaining the report that supposedly they had written. The reality is that my opinion is not based on a philosophical point of view, it is that there is no evidence to back up your claims—you have presented no evidence to back up your claims. The parliamentary secretary presented his own situation but the questions relating to the comparisons have not been answered. That is because they cannot be answered to support these claims.
