Senator MARGETTS (9:33 AM) —If I could briefly speak to this motion, it is not that the Greens (WA) find either the Data-matching Program (Assistance and Tax) Amendment Bill 1998 or the Passenger Movement Charge Amendment Bill 1998 particularly obnoxious; it is simply that the explanations for urgency—and considering the weight of work required for all other elements of legislation—does not seem to hold sway. It is consistent with the approach we have taken that the actual arguments for urgency should be real arguments, and not simply because at some stage the government may call an election—which, in fact, is due next May.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
