To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate in the Parliament assembled.

The petition of the undersigned shows:

(a) a proposal has been made by the Department of Transport to build a major non-curfewed international airport in Sydney's western suburbs;

(b) airports and attendant infrastructure are a major source of air and noise pollution;

(c) western Sydney already suffers the worst air pollution in Australia;

(d) an additional airport in the Sydney basin will only serve to greatly increase such pollution; and

(e) an airport in Sydney's west will harm the lifestyle and wellbeing of many thousands of citizens living and working within the Sydney basin.

Your petitioners therefore request that the Senate not pass any bill which would lead to the construction of any new airport within the Sydney basin.
