Senator FORSHAW
—I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:
That the Senate—
(a) notes:
(i) that the company, Careers Advancement College Pty Ltd, has provided training and employment placement services in southern Sydney for more than 10 years,
(ii) that Careers Advancement College Pty Ltd has offices in Sutherland and Hurstville which employ 12 staff and has a job placement success rate in excess of the area and national average,
(iii) that, notwithstanding their expertise and experience, Careers Advancement College Pty Ltd was not successful in its tender for employment services contracts recently awarded by the Department of Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs, and
(iv) that, in contrast, Mr Khader Roude, who has no office, no staff, no fax machine, no computer and no experience, won a contract worth nearly $1 million to provide employment services in the same areas in southern Sydney; and
(b) condemns the Minister for Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs (Dr Kemp) for this scandalous waste of taxpayers' money in awarding contracts to persons and companies with little or no experience in providing employment services.
