Senator BROWN(12.21 p.m.) —In so far as the good senator has just explained the advantages of the Labor position, I take that on board. I was reiterating the misrepresentation of that position from Senator Harradine. The point I want to make clear is that the advantages in the Labor position—and Senator Bolkus has just enumerated those—are essentially being voted down here by the government and Senator Harradine.

Amendments 205, 206, 7, 10, 11, 8, 12, 279 to 282, 13, 14, 207, 9 and 6 not agreed to.

The CHAIRMAN —We now move to opposition amendment 208 in relation to schedule 1, item 39, sections 232B to 232E. The question is that the item stand as printed.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

The CHAIRMAN —We now move to the government's amendments. I understand that you have moved them, Senator Minchin.
