Senator STOTT DESPOJA —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate—

(a)   notes the decreased number of overall applications for South Australian university places, including:

   (i)   a 20 per cent decline in postgraduate applications at the University of South Australia,

   (ii)   a 13 per cent overall decline in applications for the University of Adelaide, and

   (iii)   an 8 per cent overall decline in overall applications for the Flinders University of South Australia; and

(b)   condemns the Federal Government's funding cuts to university operating grants, which have increased postgraduate coursework fees and diminished opportunities for life-long learning.
