Senator STOTT DESPOJA —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate—

(a)   notes that:

   (i)   the University of New South Wales has advertised locally and overseas for expressions of interest in the St George Campus site, and

   (ii)   the sale or lease of the site would require changes to the University of New South Wales Act;

(b)   supports the statement made by the New South Wales Minister for Education and Training (Mr John Aquilina) that the Government would consider changing the legislation to transfer the site to the University of Wollongong; and

(c)   urges the University of New South Wales to pursue this option and to maintain a public university campus in Sydney's southern suburbs.
