Senator BROWN(10.06 a.m.)
—Firstly, in relation to this amendment, and referring to an answer to question on notice No. 346 which the minister kindly provided in February this year, can he say whether the 1995 scoping study undertaken jointly by the New South Wales and Victorian government departments into the impacts of an increased water flow from Lake Jindabyne has been made public; and, if not, why not? Secondly, can the minister say which other river environments will be studied for assessment of the impact of allowing water to flow down the Snowy? The minister has indicated in that answer to my question that there will be a look at the environmental impact of releasing water from the Jindabyne Dam on rivers, including the Snowy. Which other rivers are to be investigated by this water study?
Thirdly, the minister indicated in his answer that, post-corporatisation, to effect an environmental flow down the Snowy River will require action by the New South Wales government, the Victorian government and the Commonwealth government, including legislative action. Can the minister tell the committee what that action would be?
