Senator WOODLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate—

(a)   notes that:

   (i)   the Queensland Government has waived the responsibilities of the developer to provide an environmental impact statement for the massive expansion of the Port Hinchinbrook development in north Queensland,

   (ii)   this flagrantly goes against good planning and assessment principles,

   (iii)   this will be seen by the public as another outrageous favour to the developer Keith Williams, and

   (iv)   this may impact on the World Heritage values of the Hinchinbrook channel;

(b)   condemns the Queensland Government for waiving the requirement for a proper environmental impact statement from developer Keith Williams; and

(c)   condemns the Minister for the Environment (Senator Hill) for his failure to protect World Heritage values of far north Queensland.
