Senator IAN CAMPBELL (Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer)(12.41 p.m.) —I note that the government regards the loss of that question as an important one. It does cut across the legislative package. As I stated in my intervention, the amendment falls way outside the technical nature of this amending bill, which is seeking to be a tidying up bill. I did not seek to delay the committee's consideration of the bill by spending another five, six or seven minutes in calling for a division. But I ask that the vote of those coalition senators in the chamber be recorded and, most importantly, that it be recorded that we regard this as a serious amendment which the government will have to consider when it goes back to the House of Representatives.
