Senator COOK(6.34 p.m.) —That is all I needed you to tell me, Minister, because I have in front of me a memorandum of 13 December 1996 signed by Senator Ian Campbell, Senator Winston Crane, Senator Alan Eggleston, Senator Chris Ellison and Senator John Panizza. It has a note at the bottom:

Sue Knowles is unable to sign this memorandum because she is at sea travelling to the Antarctic.

This memorandum is to the members of the state council of the Western Australian Liberal Party. It claims the aforementioned senators obtained the amendment, not Senator Murray. I think you have just killed that one. It concludes with these words:

The WA senators have welcomed the five-year extension to the deadline as it will enable prospectors to rationalise their leases without undue pressure.

If you persist in your argument, you will render inaccurate that last line, Minister.
